Laser hardening uses a high power laser beam to achive a localized surface hardening on steel components.
The irradiated area heats up in a controlled way to reach the austenization temperature (aprox. 1000ºC) followed by a fast cooling by thermal conduction driving to a micro structure modification and therefore an increase in hardness.
